I don’t know about you, but during this latest lockdown, I’m starting to get a bit stir crazy as we continue to navigate through Covid-19. Putting down my camera once again, I thought I’d create a new article for all the couples out there trying to plan a wedding during this uncertain time.
You may feel frustrated at how little you think you can do to plan as the world stands still. So here are several things you can check off your to-do list right now to stay inspired and on top of your planning.
MAKE A WEDDING INSPIRATION BOARD!
If you’re at the beginning stages of wedding planning, get some scissors, pens, magazines, print a few photos from your Pinterest board, and create yourself a mood board! It is a great way to make sure you stay the course with your preferred style and vision.
START BROWSING VENUES & ASK ABOUT VIRTUAL TOURS
Many wedding venues are now offering online virtual tours. Narrow down your top 5 wedding venues, browse through what photos they have available online, and ask the coordinators for a tour! Don’t forget to look up #yourvenuename on Instagram to see pictures other couples have posted too!
STALK YOUR FAVOURITE VENDORS + BOOK ZOOM MEETINGS
As a wedding professional myself, I’m still meeting with couples on Zoom and booking weddings for 2021 and beyond. It’s a great way to have a warm conversation and book the vendors you love most.
MAKE YOUR GUEST LIST + BUILD YOUR ADDRESS BOOK
Sourcing the addresses of all your guests isn’t the most exciting thing on your to-do list, but what better time to get in touch with everyone whilst we’re all stuck at home!
ROCK THAT RECEPTION PLAYLIST
Why not have your own concert in your living room? Start building a playlist of your favourite songs so that you have a great list to give your DJ! Don’t be shy to test out a few first dance songs too.
CREATE YOUR WEDDING DAY TIMELINE
It can be a little daunting to do on your own, as you probably have never planned a wedding day before. But take it from me, it is the best feeling to have specific times drafted for your planning. Think about hair & makeup, ceremony, photos, wedding breakfast etc. so when your friends and family start asking, you can keep them properly in the loop.
WORK ON THOSE HANDMADE PROJECTS
Now is a great time to tackle those crafty projects you’ve been dreaming about, but may not have had the time to do. Have a look around on various Facebook groups and Etsy for ideas. I know a lot of small businesses would be pleased with a few extra online orders to keep themselves afloat during this weird time, too. It’s a win-win!
So there we have it! Seven ways you can keep your engagement excitement alive and enjoy planning your wedding right from your living room!
