In August, Matthew and I photographed and filmed the Sri Lankan wedding of Nandun and Upekha at the wonderful Hunton Park Hotel.

This was a first for us both. Not just the location, but to capture the traditions and the ceremonial proceedings of a Sri Lankan wedding. Prior to the day, we reviewed multiple Youtube videos of such wedding ceremonies so that we knew what to expect. Although, as the ceremony was not in English, we were not always sure when exactly the next part was going to happen. But having said that, it was great fun!
We arrived early in the morning as the ceremony was at 9 am. I photographed some of the preparation photos and then met with the couple to take some wedding portraits before the ceremony began.

At this point, Nandun arrived and we went outside into the garden to get some photos together.

I loved how detailed everything was, and the gorgeous colours used.

Timing is very important for a Sri Lankan wedding, so we returned to the front of the building for the beginning of the ceremony.

After the ceremony was completed, I went back outside with the couple for some more photos, before they sat down to eat with their guests.

It was time for food to be served, so we headed back inside for the cake cutting followed by the meal.

After the meal was the speeches. We then grabbed the group and family photos they wanted and it was soon time for the couple to head off to start their new life together.

The wedding was non-stop action and we loved every moment of it. You can check out the highlights video below.
